The Soul's Map: How Leela Works

2026-03-16

Perhaps you've heard of this "game of self-discovery," but you're wondering: how does it actually work?

Leela is no ordinary board game. It is a 2,000-year-old Vedic system that maps your life across 72 squares.

Here, I explain the most important rules and the deep symbolism behind them.

1. The Ticket: Intention

You can't just play Leela "just because." The game begins with a question or an intention.

Example: "What is blocking my professional success?" or "Why do I often feel lonely in my relationships?"

The entry: You roll the die until you get a 6. This symbolizes birth or the moment you are truly ready to confront your theme. Only then does your token enter the board.

2. The Dynamics: Arrows and Snakes

Life consists of ascents and setbacks. On the board, this is made visible through arrows and snakes:

  • The Arrows (Ladders): They represent virtues, leaps in consciousness, or positive actions. If you land on the foot of an arrow, you are immediately carried upwards. An example is the Dharma square (Righteousness) – those who act in harmony with their inner law ascend.
  • The Snakes: They are not a punishment, but teachers. They show us vices, ego structures, or illusions. If a snake bites you, you slide back down. This means: there is still something here to heal or understand before you can move forward.

3. The Meaning of the Squares (Examples)

Each of the 72 squares has a specific vibration. Here are two important examples:

  • Kordha (Anger/Rage): A snake that can send you deep down. But in the game, you learn: Anger is often just suppressed energy. If we recognize it, we lose our fear of it.
  • Sukha (Bliss/Joy): A state of harmony. When you land here, you feel the lightness that arises when you are in flow with life.

4. The Goal: Where do you finish?

The game doesn't just end at square 72. The goal is to reach Unity or Cosmic Consciousness.

You don't "win" against others. You finish the game when you have learned the lessons necessary for your initial question. Often, the end of the game is a moment of deep emotional clarity – you feel lighter and see your path clearly before you again.

Why playing with a facilitator is more effective

Leela is an ocean. You can swim in it, but you can also drown in it.

As a facilitator, I am your navigator:

  • I help you translate the meaning of the squares to your personal life situation.
  • I ensure that you don't sink into self-pity when encountering a snake, but instead recognize the valuable lesson within it.
  • I hold the space when Kordha (anger) or pain arises, so you can safely move through these emotions.

Ready for the first roll?

Leela is a shortcut to self-discovery. Instead of fishing in the dark for years, the board shows you where you really stand within a few hours.

Do you have a question that has been with you for a long time? Let's see together what the board has to say about it.
